This article aims to discuss the search for “female emancipation” in the context of the Cuban revolution, considering the intersection of gender, class and racial oppression systems. We aim to bring out the voices and knowledge of black women, so we start from two groups of analytical sources: official government documents and the Federación de Mujeres Cubanas (FMC); as well as oral evidence, through the life story of María de los Reyes Castillo Bueno, better known as Reyita
