THE TIRIYÓ IN THE COMIC: FROM “BRAZILIAN GUYANA” TO THE GERMAN IMAGINARY

Keywords: Tiriyó, mission, Germany, comic

Abstract

The present text is a brief study on Tiriyó's participation in the German comic "Fix und Foxi", in which we intend to analyze the interests that motivated this presence in the magazine, as well as the contribution of this writer to indigenous research. Influenced by a literature of the nineteenth century, his account deals between the exotic image of the Amazon and the harsh reality experienced by the American indians in their colonization process. Your trip to Brazil is the record of a country on the move. The advance of the northern border in the military government, not only meant the desire for economic and social integration of the Amazon, but above all, evidenced the existence of a hostile scenario imposed on indigenous peoples, which for the implementation of an exclusively economic project, given the introduction of companies in the Amazon and appropriation of indigenous territory, has enabled the recedonof freedom due to the relocation of ethnic groups , including the death of those who spoke out against the deployment of federal roads. Seeking to achieve the intent of this research, we analyzed the text of fix und foxi magazine in dialogue with Anthropology, as well as the use of documentary source produced at the time.
