HISTORY, ARCHITECTURE AND DOCUMENTATION: TEATRO MUNICIPAL SEVERINO CABRAL, CAMPINA GRANDE-PB. (1962-1988)
Abstract
This text deals with the documentary rescue of the Teatro Municipal Severino Cabral (TMSC), designed by engineer Geraldino Pereira Duda, in the early 1960s, in the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba, northeastern Brazil. The objective is to disseminate the results of the research that have been developed on the professional and his works in this city, through investigations carried out by the Research Group Architecture and Place / GRUPAL, since 2015. As a specific case study, this building was selected, for it is one of the most significant examples of its production, in addition to its importance in the urban scenario. It is justified by the importance of discussing the role of architectural documentation as a first step in heritage preservation work, which must be rescued, reworked, generating new documents that support possible interventions in the building, as a way to make it alive and pulsating in the city. contemporaneity. The research methodology and the theoretical contribution that enabled the reflections presented here, will be properly exposed during the textual development.
